Open to all 2020-2021 Freshman-Senior students that are interested in trying out for the JV/ Varsity Spiritline team in the fall of 2020
During Phase 1 open cheer gym will focus on the individual's skills (stretching, conditioning, jumps, motions, choreography)
Participants will be grouped by skill/grade with no more than 10 in each group.
Open cheer gym will meet inside the gym and/or cafeteria. We will NOT be using cheer mats during this phase.
We ask that all participants wear face covering to/during/from the open cheer gym. We will be following the NFHS ruling on when and when not to have athletes wear face coverings.
Per NFHS ruling/guidelines: Face covering may be worn during the following activities; stretching, motions, jumps, and band dances/chants.
It is NOT recommended that athletes wear face coverings while participating in any cardio activity or higher repetition skill.
Open cheer gym is optional. Attending does not guarantee any individual a spot on the JV/Varsity team in the fall.
No tryout choreography (cheer/dance) will be taught during open cheer gym.
Phase 1 Guidelines
Parents, coaches, and athletes shall know signs and symptoms of illness. If an athlete, coach, or staff member has signs or symptoms of illness or a person living in their home has signs or symptoms of illness they shall not come to the open cheer gym and notify the point of contact immediately.
All athletes, coaches, and other support staff must be free from symptoms for at least 14 days and no individual is in close contact with anyone who is sick within that 14 day period before attending open cheer gym
Screening for symptoms including, temperature checks, of all participants including coaches and staff prior to the start of activity. If an athlete is showing any symptoms or discloses symptoms or illness, parents should be called and the athlete needs to be seen and cleared by a healthcare provider. Each athlete shall log their self-reported questionnaire and temperature.
Disinfecting and cleaning of all personal equipment and material shall occur before and after attending open cheer gym as well as any other time there is contact with another person. This includes your face covering.
Small group activities are permitted for 10 people or less with at least 1 coach onsite.
Athletes shall be kept in the same training group from week to week.
